A remarkable and demanding terroir
The vineyard lies opposite the Rhône, on the eastern flank of the Massif Central, in the commune of Cornas in Ardèche.
Here, the river has carved the landscape, fracturing the rocks and forming large amphitheatres. The vineyard is planted in a natural granite amphitheatre that shelters the vines from cold winds.
Clinging to steep, east/southeast‑facing slopes, they are deeply rooted in narrow terraces held up by stone walls with some plots consisting of just a few rows.
Scattered gems and singularity
Cornas is predominantly granite, with some limestone scree in the north.
Perched at 450 metres above sea level in the Chaban sector, our plot follows this same pattern, with white minerals – notably baryte – clearly visible in the soil.
Named Baryte, after the terroir from which it is born, our cuvée is a true expression of place.
Here, the imprint of the soil becomes that of the wine — precise, mineral and singular.
Revealing wines of great depth and intensity
Born from this dramatic landscape, Cornas wines show a bold, assertive character, a faithful expression of their deep‑seated roots.
Here, Syrah, the only permitted red grape variety in the appellation, reveals its full power and typicity: aromas of blackberry, violet, liquorice and spice, a dense, structured palate and an intense, almost black hue.
Cornas produces terroir-driven wines of substance, combining strength and elegance as they age.
