A family story

Our wine estate is rooted in ancestral land that has belonged to the Roudier family for generations. Long established in the Drôme, we cherish this land, tending it with devotion and profound respect. Over time, we have guided the estate towards new horizons, ever respecting the soils that shape our wines. Today, Domaine Vendome welcomes you near Tain-l’Hermitage to discover authentic terroir-driven wines.

A family legacy

The story began several generations ago with a family fruit farming venture. True to the region’s agricultural traditions, La Ferme Vendome cultivates over twenty hectares of apricot and cherry orchards, alongside lavender fields and truffle patches. Today, we carry forward our time-honoured family agricultural traditions, while embracing vine growing across fifteen hectares, bringing fresh momentum. Already recorded as “Vendome” in the land register in 1928, the first parcel planted to vines in 2010 inspired our estate’s name.

Grape growing

A strong affinity for wine, combined with terroirs particularly well suited to vine growing, led us quite naturally into winegrowing. We have been nurturing our grapes with passion and know-how since 2010, guided by our conviction that great wines begin with great grapes.

Respect for biodiversity and sustainable viticulture

We nurture our vines with the utmost care and dedication. At Domaine Vendome, our pursuit of high-quality organic wines is rooted in a holistic approach that preserves soil life, encourages biodiversity and limits our environmental impact.

Our organic certification, obtained with the 2021 vintage, marks an important milestone in our winegrowing journey. We see it not as an end in itself, but as a commitment to continuous improvement – towards ever more sustainable viticulture.

To encourage biodiversity and strengthen the vitality of our terroirs, we have implemented several practical measures:

  • preserving natural hedgerows along the vineyard edges, which provide genuine refuges for local wildlife and beneficial insects;
  • limiting erosion and drought through the use of cover crops, which protect the soils and improve their structure;
  • supporting microbial life through the use of natural composts and a measured approach to mechanisation.

Guided by a living-system philosophy, we also explore new avenues such as soil bioelectronics and plant-based treatments, with the aim of strengthening vine resilience and preserving the purity of our organic Crozes-Hermitage Blancs and Cornas.

Each gesture and each decision reflects our core conviction: protecting nature means safeguarding the quality and future of our wines. This environmentally friendly approach ensures the production of healthy, expressive and fully traceable wines, from an organically certified estate.

Reusing our bottles

As part of our commitment to reducing our environmental impact, we have chosen to adopt bottle reuse. For this, we use a bottle format that meets the standards of the France Consigne network, allowing our bottles to be collected throughout France – notably via partner collection points.

Once recovered, the bottles are washed and reused locally – within the area where they were consumed and collected – thereby limiting transport and related emissions.

At the estate, we also play our part by keeping all bottles consumed on site during tastings and events. We partner with Ma Bouteille s’appelle Reviens to wash and recirculate them, extending their lifespan while preserving natural resources.

A strong sense of place

Our intimate knowledge of our region and the singular character of our terroir allows us to craft distinctive wines. Each Domaine Vendome cuvée is a faithful expression of our plots and the iconic grape varieties of the Northern Rhône Valley.

Our Crozes-Hermitage, Cornas and IGP Collines Rhodaniennes wines reflect the diversity of the soils, climate, and care we bring to every stage of vine growing.

This is the landscape where we live, cultivate and above all, strive to shape wines that express our terroir’s the true identity – a balance of human hand, nature, and our time.
